We are Stepping Stones Community Nursery (SSCN), a community based, quality and accredited childcare provider located in Vauxhall, London.

Apart from offering affordable, enjoyable and bilingual (English & Spanish) full-time childcare from 3 months to 5 years, we are also a social enterprise committed to empowering local residents through employment, training and volunteering opportunities.

We feel that play is still one of the most important ways in which young children learn. Our aim is to providing a caring and stimulating environment that can enhance the Early Years development of children and their overall wellbeing.

We plan around parents and children’s interests and encourage the use of bilingualism, ensuring that children of three months old and above follow the early year’s foundation stage principles, which are: unique child, positive relationships, enabling environments, learning and development.

Communication & Language

We use a variety of books for story time. Story tapes are used for listening. Children are encouraged to enjoy and look after books themselves. Children learn to recognise and write their own name by drawing shapes and recognising letters of the alphabet.

Mathematics

Children begin to develop this skill through problem solving. They use mathematical language and signs, such as a circle, size, numbers, rhymes, counting games, as well as fun activities.

Physical Development

The staffs aims to promote the development in children’s gross and fine motor skills by providing them with activities such as dancing and role-play. Children learn to use the small and big equipment and handle tools safely and with confidence.

Expressive Arts and Design

This focuses on the development of children’s imagination. Children can express themselves through art, music, dance, and imaginative play by using colour and texture. They are encouraged to respond to what they see, hear, smell, touch and feel.

KITCHEN

Nursery meals were introduced in August 2010 and have been a real success here at Stepping Stones Community Nursery. We are pleased to include healthy and nutritious meals adapted to your child’s age requirements within the above stated Nursery fees.

GARDEN/OUTDOOR

As part of the regular activities the children will be taken to the local libraries, parks, markets and playgrounds by the nursery workers. You will be duly informed of any outing planned.

CLASSROOM

We offer a variety of activities on a daily basis, giving each and every child the opportunity to develop in accordance with their age and stage of development, regardless of their gender, physical ability, race, culture, social or religious backgrounds or beliefs.
